About Us

The Story Is Just Unfolding

Established in 2021, GenomeGenius emerged with a singular vision: to democratize access to advanced genomic sciences for children of all backgrounds and regions. Comprising a dedicated team of scientists, educators, and advocates, our combined expertise fuels our commitment to bridging the knowledge gap in this rapidly evolving field.

At GenomeGenius, we uphold the tenet that understanding our genetic blueprint should not be a privilege, but a right. Every initiative we undertake is meticulously designed to ensure comprehensive and cutting-edge education in genetics, biotechnology, and the ethical considerations inherent to them. By collaborating with schools, communities, and industry leaders, we aim to spark curiosity and foster a new generation of genetic pioneers.

Our journey has just begun, and the road ahead is filled with promise and discovery. We invite you to journey with us — as an educator, supporter, or student — and shape the genomic leaders of tomorrow.

  • I totally enjoyed working through the GenomeGenius curriculum. The material is progressively organized, guiding students who have absolutely no understanding of genomics to an excellent grasp of all the major concepts and lab procedures used in the study of modern genetics. More experienced students will find plenty of material that will deepen their understanding of this cutting-edge science.

The labs are well structured with easy-to-follow directions that keep students constantly engaged and self-directed as they explore diverse hands-on topics. Students frequently became so engaged that they didn’t know when the lab period was finished.

I loved the fact that I did not have to do any research or spend hours looking for interesting labs. The course was inspiring to students, easy to present, and thorough in its coverage of genomics.

Meet Morgan Burns - Founder and CEO

Morgan Burns has distinguished herself not only through her academic success but by making a significant impact from a young age. As a gifted ninth grader at The Grayson School, she excelled in gene editing using tools like CRISPR, fueled by the school's supportive, scholarship-rich environment. Struck by the unequal access to advanced STEM education, Morgan launched GenomeGenius in 2022 to bring these opportunities to underserved students.

GenomeGenius, under Morgan’s leadership, aims to level the playing field in STEM, offering mentorship and practical experience in genetic engineering. As she nears graduation, her efforts with GenomeGenius have started to transform STEM education, highlighting that with the proper resources, today’s gifted students can become tomorrow’s innovators, making a better world within reach.
